Marble Falls ISD is pleased to announce Dr. Heather Metzgar as the new principal of Spicewood Elementary and Mrs. Kara Gasaway as the principal of Marble Falls Elementary for the 2025-2026 school year.
Dr. Heather Metzgar – Spicewood Elementary Principal
Dr. Metzgar joins Spicewood Elementary with 29 years of experience in education, having served as a teacher, counselor, and administrator at the elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school levels. She has also held leadership roles at the district level, supporting academic programs and faculty development.
A former Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Assistant Principal of the Year, Dr. Metzgar is known for her ability to foster academic growth and mentor educators. In Marble Falls ISD, she has guided secondary principals, mentored instructional coaches, overseen college and career readiness programs, and led initiatives to improve academic performance.
“Her depth of knowledge gives her the unique ability to look at where our students are, where they need to be, and how to prepare them for future success,” said Superintendent Dr. Jeff Gasaway.
Dr. Metzgar shared, "I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve as principal next year at Spicewood Elementary. It is an amazing campus with a skilled staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic students. I look forward to being part of the SWE family in their continued journey of excellence!"
Mrs. Kara Gasaway – Marble Falls Elementary Principal
Mrs. Kara Gasaway returns to Marble Falls Elementary with 28 years of experience in education. Since joining Marble Falls ISD in 2016, she has served as a reading specialist, federal programs compliance coordinator, assistant principal at both the elementary and high school levels, and most recently, principal of Spicewood Elementary.
Mrs. Gasaway has taught at every grade level, specializing in literacy development and middle school education. At Marble Falls Elementary, she played a key role in strengthening literacy programs and supporting student achievement. As an administrator, she has focused on fostering teacher growth, implementing instructional strategies, and enhancing campus culture.
During her tenure as principal at Spicewood Elementary, Mrs. Gasaway led initiatives to enhance student engagement, build strong community partnerships, and create an inclusive learning environment. Assistant Superintendent of Administration Stan Whittle praised her leadership, stating, "Mrs. Gasaway’s deep understanding of curriculum, her ability to connect with students and staff, and her unwavering commitment to excellence make her an exceptional leader. She fosters a strong school culture where students thrive and teachers feel supported."
“I am so excited to be rejoining the Marble Falls Elementary staff, students, and parents,” said Mrs. Gasaway. “While I will miss the Spicewood community, I look forward to this next chapter.”
