WHAT IS CTE?

Today's cutting-edge, rigorous and relevant Career & Technical Education (CTE) prepares students in 7th - 12th grade with academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training necessary to succeed in future careers and to become lifelong learners. CTE prepares these learners for post-secondary opportunities at community colleges, technical schools, universities, or the world of work. MFISD offers 74 different CTE courses. Most courses count as elective credit, but some count as Math or Science credit. In 8th grade, all students will take an elective course called Level-Up which includes exploration of high school programs of study as well as post-secondary options that include college and careers. Students will also design a high school four-year plan that can be adjusted from year to year with their counselor.
