MFHS Choir
Bryce Gage introduced Marble Falls High School choir students to recognize their remarkable achievements at the recent solo and ensemble contest. Out of all participants, 36 MFHS students earned a superior 1 rating, a testament to their hard work and talent. Particularly noteworthy are the ten students who received a 1 on a grade one solo, the most challenging level of college-level literature. This extraordinary accomplishment entitles them to compete at the state level. Ella Bray, Nick Dahl, Luis Falcon, Joy Grubbs, Hunter Holder, Jade Maynard, Hailey Ostertag, Abbi Reyes, Izabella Salinas, and Brennen Scheerer were able to continue their season as they competed in the state solo and ensemble competition Saturday, May 25. The state competition, which happened after the board meeting recognition, resulted in Nick Dahl, Luis Falcon and Ella Bray receiving gold and Brennen Scheerer and Hunter Holder receiving silver.
MFHS Theatre- One Act Play
The company of "The Caucasian Chalk Circle", led by directors Jon Clark, Adam Goodman, Jordan Jones and Erika Kellogg, has had an exceptional season, being named district champions, advancing out of bi-district and area as first runners-up, and securing the title of regional champions for the second consecutive year. At the state competition, they achieved an impressive third place out of 246 Texas schools, earning the bronze medal in the 4A division.
This accomplishment marks the fourth state appearance in the last five years, with the other year being named alternates to state. This is also the second time MFHS theatre has medaled at the state meet in their last three appearances. Additionally, this is the seventh consecutive show to advance to at least the region contest and the eighth straight to advance to the playoffs. At the state meet, Campbell Coker was named to the Honorable Mention All-Star Cast, and Gavin Reed was named to the All-Star Cast, recognizing them as two of the top 18 actors in 4A.
Throughout the season, several firsts were achieved: for the first time, the team received the Best Performer award more than twice in a contest season, with Janine Seale and Campbell Coker each winning the top acting award twice. At the region contest, Anthony Ruiz was honored as the region’s top technician. Other individual award winners included Mallori Houck, Jaylee Sagebiel, and Elliott Rossbach. The company of 22 students loses 4 seniors but has 18 company members returning for the 2025 contest season.
Visual Arts UIL State Qualifiers
We are delighted to honor our Visual Arts UIL State Qualifiers, led by Kim Thomas. This year, Roselyn Arredondo and Ella Hillman achieved remarkable success in the Visual Arts Scholastic UIL competition. Out of an astounding 33,127 entries at the beginning levels, only 2,300 advanced to state, including two talented high school students from Marble Falls, who competed against the largest schools in Texas. At the state level, 1,400 received a score of four, and only 162 were awarded as gold finalists. Roselyn Arredondo, competing in the most challenging senior division, was just two points shy of earning a four. Ella Hillman, an exceptional sophomore, received a four in her division and medaled, missing a perfect score by only two points. It was an incredible experience to see their outstanding works displayed among the best student art in the state.
This achievement marks our third consecutive year of success in the competition. Congratulations to Roselyn and Ella for their extraordinary accomplishments and the artistic excellence they have brought to Marble Falls ISD.
eSports State Championship
We are thrilled to announce the incredible achievement of our inaugural eSports team, led by Coach Adam Ray and supported by Renae Feller with the ACE (Afterschool Centers on Education) program, in winning the state championship.
Our ACE program, funded by a federal grant and launched this school year, sought to increase student participation as the second semester approached. In collaboration with Principal Hinson, Ms. Feller introduced eSports to attract more students. Despite having no prior experience with eSports, Ms. Feller received crucial support from Coach Ray, who volunteered to establish and coach the team. With ACE funding the necessary equipment, Coach Ray had 10-15 active participants in the eSports program and quickly registered the team for competition by February. Although the newly formed eSports team had never played a match together, their immense potential, talent, and strong team communication quickly became evident.
Entering the playoffs undefeated, our four competitors—juniors Alex Turley, Reed Lewis, Jesse Jimenez, and Jeremy Williams—demonstrated exceptional teamwork and emerged as State Champions. Looking ahead, these talented juniors plan to return for their senior year with aspirations of competing at Nationals. The eSports program, part of ACE, is open to all students at no cost, providing an exciting opportunity to join and participate in this dynamic and growing field.
MFHS Tennis- State Qualifier
Cooper Womack qualified for the state level of competition in UIL Tennis. As a freshman, he made an impressive debut by earning first team all-boys singles honors. This past year, he triumphed in the select competition, competing against all district boys singles and doubles. During the spring season, he won district and regionals, proudly representing us at the state level. He currently holds a 6.06 UTR, a significant achievement, and is also ranked #5 in his class, an outstanding academic accomplishment.
MFHS Track- State Qualifier
Tyler Hamblin was presented by Coach Austin Silva as the only track and field state finalist this year. At the state track meet, Tyler achieved an impressive 6th place finish with a personal record of 9 minutes and 28 seconds in the 3200m run. This remarkable time makes Tyler the second fastest in this event in our school's history, only trailing the legendary Leo Manzano. Tyler's success can be attributed to his relentless work ethic, unwavering commitment to his craft, and the invaluable support of Coach Chris Schrader, who believed in him from day one and guided him through every step. Tyler's dedication is evident in his rigorous training regimen, averaging 40 to 50 miles per week. We are immensely proud of Tyler for his outstanding accomplishments and for representing Marble Falls at the highest level. Considering he is only a junior, we eagerly anticipate what he will achieve next year.
