Marble Falls High School Band member, Noah Reily, represented Marble Falls in the Region 29 Jazz Band Concert last Saturday, November 12th, at the Sandra Day O’Connor High School Performance Center in San Antonio. Reily earned the spot in the All-Region Jazz Band performance after competing with musicians from Boerne Champion, Kerrville Tivy, and all of the Northside ISD San Antonio schools. Reily is the first student from the MFHS Band to earn the All-Region honor in the last eight years.
“Noah was the only MFHS Band Member to pass all of the audition hurdles to earn a spot on the All-Region Band,” said Assistant Band Director, Brandon Sinde. “It’s quite an accomplishment. Noah was picked as one of only two of the best performers from everyone competing to play guitar in the Region Jazz Band.”
The path to the All-Region Jazz Band Performance began last May when Reily received the music for the All-Region show. After practicing through the summer, Reily competed in blind auditions in San Antonio in September. Following the auditions, MFHS Band Directors were notified of Reilly’s selection to the All-Region Jazz Band.
“Noah only received the music performance the day before the concert,” reports Sinde. “It is really amazing the level of talent of the members of the All-Region band. They participated in a clinic with the new music the day of the concert and performed it that evening. It was a wonderful experience that will help Noah and the MFHS Band grow as musicians in the future!”
