With the announcement from Keith Powell that he is retiring as Principal of Colt Elementary School at the end of the 2015 - 2016 school year, the search for a new Principal for Colt begins.
Powell has served the community as a Marble Falls ISD Administrator since August of 2000. Past students remember Mr. Powell as a Marble Falls High School Assistant Principal, Marble Falls Middle School Assistant Principal, Principal of Highland Lakes Elementary, and most recently as Principal of Colt Elementary. In addition to his 16 years of service in MFISD, Powell will retire with a total of 31 years of service educating children in Texas Public Schools.
“Mr. Powell has faithfully served the students, families, and community of Marble Falls ISD while modeling a positive attitude, kindness, and team spirit,” said MFISD Superintendent, Dr. Chris Allen. “We celebrate this decision with him while knowing he will be missed.”
Colt will be served by Mr. Powell through the end of this school year. Powell will also help transition the new Colt Principal into the Colt campus at the beginning of this summer. MFISD is looking forward to celebrating with Mr. Powell and its other retirees during the District’s year end retirement celebrations in May.
Marble Falls ISD will post the Principal opening prior to the Spring Break. The new Principal will be recommended to the Board by the Superintendent following an extensive selection process which includes community and staff input. A principal selection committee will be established following Spring Break to help with the screening of applicants prior to their selection as final candidates for Superintendent and Board recommendation.
