The Marble Falls FFA competed in the Area VII FFA Career Development Events at Texas A&M University in College Station Saturday, April 1st. The Floriculture team, (Holly Atkinson, Avery Marshall, and Kenadee Stewart), placed 1st in District and 1st in Area. They will represent MFHS’ FFA in the State Competition, April 28th, at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Individual honors: Holly Atkinson placed 3rd and Avery Marshall placed 1st.
The Nursery Landscape Team (Jose Hitchcock, Jessica Keltch, Sydney Potts, and Daniela Solorzano) placed 1st in District and 5th in Area. The 5th place finish qualified the Team for the State Competition for the 14th year in-a-row.
“Ms. (Dawn) Stratton and I were very pleased to qualify for State with our new Nursery Landscape Team,” said FFA sponsor Mike Chesnut. “Many people don’t realize that once a specific team wins State, they can’t compete in the same category again. It’s so exciting to think that Marble Falls has a whole new team working to bring back-to-back Landscape State championships to MFHS.”
The Horse Team (Amber Fearn, Madeline Holder, and Alyssa Stutzman) placed 2nd in District and 8th in Area. They brought back the very first Area banner for Horse judging for the Marble Falls FFA. The Horse team also earned the alternate spot for State.
