While students are looking forward to a day off school Monday, January 16th, MFISD Teachers and Staff and are gearing up to learn how to best serve the educational needs of all of their students during the District’s in-service professional development training day with Dr. Ruby Payne, one of the Nation’s top educational keynote trainers.
“This workshop will allow our staff to receive training from internationally recognized speaker and author, Dr. Ruby Payne, who has research based expertise on working with students from a variety of backgrounds,” said MFISD Superintendent, Dr. Chris Allen. “Training with Dr. Payne will allow our staff to hone the skills and understandings needed to provide highly effective and individualized learning experiences for all of our learners.
Ruby K. Payne, Ph.D. is the founder of the aha! Process, and an author, speaker, publisher, and career educator. Recognized internationally for A Framework for Understanding Poverty, her foundational book and workshop, Payne has helped students and adults of all economic backgrounds achieve academic, professional, and personal success. As an expert on the mindsets of economic classes and overcoming the hurdles of poverty, she has trained hundreds of thousands of professionals, from educators and school administrators to community, church, and business leaders.
Payne’s workshop with the MFISD Staff, a series of book studies led by Dr. Allen on each campus, and an unyielding commitment from the MFISD Board of Trustees to love and inspire each child are combined to inspire each educator to connect with individual learners so they can raise student achievement and overcome economic class barriers.
The MFISD Ruby Payne Workshop scheduled for January 16th is unique in that it will bring the entire District together in the MFHS Auditorium for a full day training focused on MFISD’s students, culture, and community.
