The Mustang Band and Starlette Dance team traveled to San Antonio Saturday (October 15th) to compete in the Region 29 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Marching Contest. The Band and Starlettes received a 1st division rating from all three of the contest judges.
“The Band and Starlettes have been working on their UIL program since Aug.1st,” said Brad Behrens, MFHS Band Director. “They took on a difficult marching show and really worked as a team and pulled together to earn the highest rating possible. It has been a great marching season. My whole staff and I are very proud of all the Band and Starlette Students. Please congratulate the Band and Starlette members when you see them.”
The Music Program of the UIL is designed to support and enrich the teaching of music as an integral component of the public school curriculum in the state of Texas. This year, the UIL Region 29 marching contest is the culminating marching contest for the Mustang Band since this is not an “advance” year. The contest helps expose Band members to the contest format so they are prepared to compete at higher levels during “advance years” when the Band has the opportunity to compete through the State level.
