The Board for the Highland Lakes Farmers Market passed a resolution during their April meeting to partner with the MFHS Horticulture Program. The partnership will provide mentoring opportunities, local horticulture expertise, and a monthly booth for the students to showcase and sell the Horticulture program’s plants at the Farmers Market held each Saturday at Falls Creek Park in Marble Falls.
“The partnership with the Farmers Market gives us a terrific sales opportunity to compliment the help we currently receive from the Master Gardeners Association,” said Cole. “We’ll be promoting our participation with the Highland Lakes Farmers Market, and in turn, our students have the opportunity to spend time to learn from horticulture enthusiasts from our local community. This Horticulture partnership continues our goal to provide our Career and Technology students with workforce ready experience.”
In addition to the horticulture expertise, the partnership with the Highland Lakes Farmers Market also gives MFHS Horticulture students the opportunity to learn business and customer service skills when they sell the plants they have grown at the Farmers Market.
“We’re looking forward to everyone coming out to the Farmers Market Spring Festival to visit with the MFHS Horticulture students, and a variety of different vendors,” said Market Manager, Sandy Boulter. “The Spring Festival is from 9:00 a.m. til 4 p.m., Saturday, May, 7th, at Falls Creek Park. Your favorite vendors will be there selling plants, fruits and vegetables. During the Festival, you’ll also find Pink Zebra, Scentsy, Perfectly Posh and many more vendors!”
