The Marble Falls Middle School Student Council Members held their first canned food drive to benefit The Helping Center Saturday, October 17th. The students spent most of Saturday morning collecting canned goods throughout Meadowlakes. Then, on Wednesday of this week, they presented all of the canned food to Sam Pierce at The Helping Center.
“We have a fantastic group of Student Council members at Marble Falls Middle School this year,” reports StuCo sponsor and teacher, Kris Obermeyer. “After they collected canned goods, Mr. Pierce showed the students how to sort the cans and stock them on the shelves so they would be ready for distribution. The students also learned about how The Helping Center serves families in need and how much food the Center distributes to the community.”
President Kenadee Stewart, Vice-President Rylie Uhlbricht, Secretary Matt Martin, Treasurer Mason Neill, Historian Sarah Kirkpatrick and Student Council class representatives Tyler Wooten, Hannah Sizenbach, Makinsay Macek, Lillie Deeds and Chris Whitecotton, are working to schedule another canned food drive soon. If your neighborhood or organization is interested in participating in their efforts, please contact Mrs. Obermeyer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
